Web Services

A person working at computer.

Our web designers and developers can help you to conceptualize, plan, and build dynamic websites that are user-friendly, clean, and attractive. Our websites are also built to comply with the university's visual identity system and meet both 508c accessibility regulations and W3C standards.

Please note: Clients are responsible for all production costs.

Web Hosting

The Office of Public Outreach and Communication (OPOC) hosts our WordPress websites through a company named Pantheon. Pantheon is the Rutgers preferred vendor for WordPress hosting. Using the WordPress platform eliminates the need for expensive software to maintain websites—all you need is a web browser to edit and update a site. It also allows websites to be maintained by multiple users without the need for multiple software licenses.

Contract Period

Our Pantheon contract covers the period January – December and renews every December.

Hosting Fee

The annual hosting fee for calendar year 2024 is approximately $300/website. Monthly billing is not available. Hosting fee payments are non-refundable.

Note:

  • You will be required to cover any future increase in the hosting fee charged by Pantheon.
  • The $300/website/year hosting fee is for a Basic Level site which is limited to 25,000 visits/month. If your website regularly exceeds the 25K limit, you will be bumped up to the Performance Medium Level, which has a 50K visits/month limit. Please contact the OPOC Web Team regarding Performance Level pricing.

Grant-Funded Websites

Websites are often a component of grant-funded projects. Please contact us before submitting the grant to discuss your needs and to make sure the amount of funding you are requesting for the website is sufficient.

In addition to any build cost, you will need to budget for the hosting fee. Keep in mind that if the website needs to stay online after the grant ends you are still responsible for the annual hosting fee. Failure to pay the hosting fee will result in the website being taken offline.

Technical Support

OPOC does not provide training on the use of WordPress. Rutgers provides free access to LinkedIn Learning video tutorials and training resources for faculty, staff, and students. We will answer specific questions and provide assistance with the selection and use of WordPress plugins. WordPress templates for SEBS and NJAES websites are available. Requests for template customizations will be considered on a case-by-case basis. OPOC does not charge for technical support.
